A Hell of an Innocent (Le Crime qui est le tien)
Written by Zidrou. Art by Philippe Berthet.
A man returns home after a confession appears to clear his name.
Overview
In 1970 New South Wales, Greg comes back to Dubbo after 27 years away, having been accused of killing his wife. A dying brother’s confession promises an answer, but the town’s memory is less settled. Dargaud published the album in 2015.
Why It Matters
The apparent resolution at the start becomes the source of unease. It asks how much a community has invested in its preferred story of guilt.
Genre & Themes
Australian-set noir and family mystery combine in a one-shot about memory and blame.
Art & Visual Identity
Berthet’s clean line makes the hot, tense setting seem deceptively orderly; David’s colors sustain its oppressive mood.
