A postwar detective returns to a case that revives an old investigative agency.

Why It Matters
The premise uses a damaged postwar society to give the crime an atmosphere of dislocation. A private investigation becomes a way to map hidden institutional ties.

Riou and Vigouroux emphasize period detail and expressive figures, allowing the investigation to move between social worlds.
