Undertaker
Written by Xavier Dorison. Art by Ralph Meyer.
A traveling undertaker carries the dead through a West crowded with dangerous secrets.
Overview
Jonas Crow works as an undertaker in a harsh frontier landscape. A job can quickly become a struggle over money, reputation and survival. Dorison and Meyer began the series with Le Mangeur d’or in January 2015.
Why It Matters
The occupation gives the Western a memorable angle: Crow arrives after violence, then uncovers the forces that produced it. His own compromised past complicates any claim to innocence.
Genre & Themes
Revisionist Western, mystery and revenge story overlap. The plots use travel to expose how law and power operate in isolated communities.
Art & Visual Identity
Meyer’s expressive figures and wide landscapes turn movement across the West into visual drama. The color work with Delabie gives dust, heat and night scenes distinct moods.
